About the event

The Cohen Bray House is an Oakland Landmark and was completed in 1884.  Alfred Henry Cohen married Emma Bray and they moved into the house created by both of their families as a wedding present.  When you enter the front door you will be seeing the  furniture, wall coverings, pictures and objects- wedding presents that Emma and Alfred put into their new home 139 years ago.

This is the seating for  2:00 p.m.  The tea and tour lasts for two hours The house will be filled with holiday decorations and includes a tour of the first two floors of the house, given by the descendants of Alfred and Emma.  Tea with sweets and savories  will be served to you in the formal dining room. Music and good company will entertain you.  Your time spent in this unique Oakland Historic Landmark will give you a brief glimpse of the 14 decades that one family spent in this unique house.

At the end, or if you come early, our small gift shop will be open. Here you can purchase a membership to support this house, and honey from our bees, homemade jams, linoleum block cards made by Emelita Cohen (who lived her whole life in this house) with scenes of San Francisco in the 1930s, and California high sierra trees. We also sell wire wrapped  jewelry, and books on Victorian houses.

All proceeds from sales of items, membership and tickets go into preserving  and maintaining this historic house. We are a volunteer run 501 c 3 non-profit so donations are tax deductable.  Warm  clothing is encouraged.   Please feel free to wear any period clothing from 1880- 1980, any decade is perfect. Families are welcome. Children 7 and up must be with an adult at all times.
